Secret police force spies on Reno strip clubs, patrons

Reno City Attorney Karl Hall has rejected the Reno Gazette-Journal’s request under the public records law for a copy of the report compiled by a secret police force that went undercover into local strip clubs to spy on operators and patrons.

Hall claims the report is protected by attorney-client privilege because it was prepared in anticipation of future lawsuits. Clearly he’s never heard of the U.S. Constitution and its Fourth Amendment.

He had no problems sharing the results of the investigation with Reno City Council members before they met to make a decision on ordinance changes that would force six adult-oriented businesses to close their existing clubs in the downtown area and move to industrial neighborhoods.

At least one council member, Jenny Brekhus, said the secret police investigation was critical to her decision-making process and necessary for the public record.

Enjoy your police state.
